The Enormous Backlinking Hoax - http://lpcmarketing.com/

Backlinks in the Time of Animals

Every so often, Google critters - Panda, Penguin, and more - escape from the zoo and destroy websites that were formed using rules Google by itself promulgated.  Backlinking is a situation in point.

In the post panda and penguin world, the rules have changed, but the imperative to build backlinks stays. They need to be diverse, targeted, with a wide diversity of anchor texts, a mix of no follow and do follow links.

Everything in this system begins with creating an innovative article.

You do not want to link directly to your niche site since you’re creating hundreds of backlinks at a time.  If you point all of them to your niche blog, it will seem entirely unnatural and your site won’t be able to handle it without raising a red flag. When you direct these links to your anchors, because your anchor sites have a high ranking, they’ll be able to handle the flood of links but at the same time pass SEO strength generated from all of those links to your niche site.

Bottom Line:  If you depend on Google natural search for your business success, you can be taken down at any time through no blunder of your own.

Fundamentals of a High-quality Backlinking Mindset:

1. Target your links to your home page and at least three inside website pages.  A number of backlinks to include are exact match, URL, brand, and chance keyword phrases.

2. Studies have revealed that we need to employ a broad array of anchor texts.  As few as a 0-15% exact match will do.

3. If you are marketing a brand name, you may link from 10-80% of your backlinks to your company name. This is dependent on how sincere you are about promoting your brand, versus the benefits your product provides.

4. In this era, not all backlinks are created equal.  Not only do you need backlinks from power sites, but targeted authority sites.  A link to your weight loss website from a real estate site makes no sense.  A link from the Mayo Clinic would be gold.

5. Google is the emperor of diversity.  Backlinking from a variety of websites - authority sites, blogs, social bookmarks, social networks, blog comments, forum posts, articles, wikis, RSS feeds, images, YouTube videos, press releases, blogrolls, local business directories - all add to your backlink plan.

6. If each and every one of your links are "follow", the search engines become suspicious.  "Nofollow" links do not raise page rank but still give you Google juice.  A mix of follow and nofollow links is natural and anticipated.  Even dead links are not the difficulty one would expect.

7. Indirect links build massive amounts of backlinks which link directly to the anchor properties in another anchor layer. These links do not point straight to your niche site.  On the technical side, referring C blocks from IP addresses and the ratio of links to your home page versus inner pages matter.  Thousands of search engines, social media, and forum websites exist with unique IPs.  Exploit them.

The text of the hyperlinks that point back to your site should only be your primary keyword about 20-25% of the time. Vary your anchor text with secondary long-tail keywords in the same market.
